about

I’m Emma.  Thanks for stopping past!  (Please, help yourself to anything in the fridge)

I’m a pretty awesome sauce* photographer who specialises in Wedding, Portrait and Live Music photography. While some people cut their teeth (quite literally, that mosh pit is dangerous, punks) in music photography and use it to move onto the far more glamourous fashion and print industries – I shoot music because I freaking love it.  For every sound, there’s a picture.

I love love.  (Nope, that’s not a typo.)  I’m honoured to have been invited behind the scenes into some absolutely stunning weddings, with some hilarious, fun, cute, wonderful and ridiculous couples.  I’ve watched, lens in hand, as some new friends (and some old!) say ‘I do’ and become hitched to their very best friend.  My style is mostly photo-journalistic – I love to capture the day as it unfolds, rather than direct how the moments should be.  (But don’t worry.  I’ll totes get a few good ol’ posey posey pics for Nana to put on her mantlepiece.)  I’ve told the story of the biggest day of some of my favourite people in the world, and I’ve had some incredible adventures and made some lifelong friends along the way.

Oh, and I’ll cry.  Most definitely.  I’ll also tell you lots of lies, such as ‘ok, guys, just one more picture and then we’re done, promise‘.  (Whenever I say it’s the last photo, you can pretty much bet your last dollar that I’m gonna snap off eight or nine.  I’m a tricky minx like that.)

When I’m not holding a camera?  (Ha!  That was trick question!  I’m always holding a camera!)

I live, in Melbourne’s northern ‘burbs with my muso man-friend.  He’s multi-skilled, and will even pop along to your wedding to cart my gear around and fetch your drinks while we’re taking the portraits if you ask really, really nicely.  We’re sans human babies, but have quite the collection of furry kids.  Two cats (just, regular, run-of-the-mill, garden variety cats, because I just know you were about to ask) and one Staffy.  They’re all spoilt.  And they all have middle names.

I also have a ‘day job’ – as PR & Social Media Manager for Southern Cross Austereo.  If you’d like a stick beak of what really goes on inside a radio station (hint: there’s lots of coffee, people play cricket in the office and sometimes we have foam parties on the roof top.  Ok, we did that once.) you should definitely head on over and be my friend on Instagram.

I will never say no to a glass of NZ Sav Blanc, can always find an excuse for a new pair of shoes, am a ‘mat person’ (vinyasa yoga because I’m too much of a wuss for Bikram) and am dying to find out who the heck the mother is on How I Met Your Mother.

I’d love to come and shoot your special day, baby, event, engagement – or even music gig.  (heck, you don’t even need to be a real live musician.  Garage bands welcome.)

Contact me to find out more (or just to chat.  I love mail.)

And you can find out more about what inspires me here or in my blog.
